For the first time in the history of both franchises, Battlefield surpassed Call of Duty in the North American market. According to data from the consulting firm Circana (formerly NPD), released by analyst Mat Piscatella, Battlefield 6 was the best-selling game of 2025 in the United States in terms of revenue (dollars).

The Electronic Arts title led sales on PC and Xbox and secured second place on PlayStation, behind only NBA 2K26.

The success was immediate: Battlefield 6 sold 7 million copies in its first three days, marking the best launch in the franchise's history. On the other hand, Activision experienced an unusual scenario. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 finished the year only in fifth place, the series' worst performance since 2008 with World at War.
Analysts point out that the launch strategy had a direct impact on the result. Battlefield 6 arrived on the market about six weeks earlier and maintained the premium sales model. The new Call of Duty, on the other hand, was launched directly on Game Pass, which increases engagement but reduces direct sales of copies, and also faced a mixed reception from the public.
